Daily Post: Humbleness
BACK!! Finally, huh? I know how much you guys reading these things XP
Today is humbleness, my personal most difficult trait to accomplish. By nature, I’m prideful and sometimes arrogant. A lot of times I’ll pretend to be extremely cocky as a joke, but behind every joke, there is a little truth.
But being humble is much more than not being arrogant. It’s “hiding” your good deeds. The story in the bible: a rich man flaunts a huge bag of offerings to the temple. What the heck? Where is the meaning behind this? How does this make your offering worth anything when you are doing it to make yourself look better? Selfish. Jesus himself asks his disciples, “Who am I?” They answered, “The Son of God and Messiah.” Then he orders them to tell no one of his true identity. That is true humbleness. Just think about how many would treat him if they knew that the Son of God was before them.
It’s so hard, especially for me, to hide the things I do well. I know that I do some of them for a good cause or just because I need to (ie do well on a test), but I can’t help but take some kind of reward, even if it’s just “admiration,” for what I did well, and I know that I’m not alone in this.
Do not just openly show your good deeds because they become meaningless if you do. The point of charity or just being altruistic is that you help others not you help others to help yourself. Just defeats the purpose.
God Bless
